OREANDA-NEWS. July 01, 2010. Rostelecom has successfully challenged tax claims by Inter-Regional Inspectorate #7 of the Federal Tax Service for the Largest Taxpayers w RUR 1.8 bln, which were filed on the results of a field tax audit of 2004-2006 activities for a total of RUR 1.8 bln.

This audit was made at the Company from September until December 2007.

Based on the audit results of February 8, 2008 Rostelecom received the Inspectorate’s Decision on assessing additional liability on the part of the taxpayer, according to which the amount pending against the company equals RUR 1,812 mln.

This ruling was challenged by Rostelecom in the Moscow Arbitration Court.

A court ruling dated November 13, 2008 ordered the Company to pay part of the amount RUR 1,803 mln.

Under a Court of Appeals ruling dated February 24, 2009 and a Cassation Court verdict dated June 3, 2009 the ruling of the Moscow Arbitration Court was left unchanged.

At present, the term provided for by the current legislation for filing a supervisory appeal with the Supreme Arbitration Court has expired, and the ruling has become legal and binding.

In addition, Rostelecom filed an appeal with the Moscow Arbitration Court aimed at overturning the court ruling in light of new information which has emerged in the case, related to the RUR 6 mln claim.  Under a resolution handed down by the Moscow Arbitration Court, these demands were upheld in full.

As a result, the total amount of the claims successfully challenged by the Company amounted to RUR 1,809 mln.
