OREANDA-NEWS. July 06, 2010. UC RUSAL, (HKSE: 486, Euronext: RUSAL/RUAL), the world’s largest aluminium producer, announces a new structure for its Aluminium Division designed to increase specialization and better serve customers.  The division will be focused on two units – East and West. The Aluminium Division West will be headed by Aleksey Arnautov, while Vladimir Polin, formerly the Senior Vice President of OAO Mechel, will lead the Aluminium Division East.

The main task of the Aluminium Division East, which includes the Company’s major aluminium production facilities, such as the Sayanogorsk, Khakass, Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Novokuznetsk and Bratsk aluminium smelters, is to meet the growing demand for RUSAL’s products from Asia, increase the production of alloys and value added products by achieving maximum efficiency of the production capacities.

The Aluminium Division West, which encompasses the Volgograd, Volkhov, Kandalaksha and Nadavoitsy aluminium smelters, Zaporozhye Aluminium Complex (Ukraine) and Kubal (Sweden), as well as the aluminium production facilities of the Urals and Bogoslovsk aluminium smelters, will concentrate all its efforts on the production of value added products. The western smelters, situated near European customers, will focus on supplying end consumers and working together with clients to create new value added products. This task will require the implementation of modernisation projects and advanced training of the staff.

These changes are aimed at increasing the efficiency of management and production processes by specialization at each unit and, at the same time, securing well-managed coordination and constant cooperation.

Vladimir Polin has almost 26 years of shop floor and management experience in the manufacture and marketing of steel products. Prior to joining UC RUSAL, Vladimir Polin was Senior Vice President of Mechel. From June 2006 till December 2008 Mr. Polin was Chief Executive Officer of Mechel Management OOO.
