OREANDA-NEWS. July 07, 2010. OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel ("MMC Norilsk Nickel" or "the Company") announces the appointment of Edwin Hans van Leeuwen to the position of Managing Director of Norilsk Nickel Australia, reported the press-centre of Norilsk Nickel.

His main task will consist in defining possible development options for the Australian assets of the Group.

Brief bio:
Dr. Edwin Hans van Leeuwen was born on October 4, 1950. In 1975 he graduated from Australian National University in Applied Mathematics and in 1981 PhD from Monash University in 1981. From 1985 to 1996 worked in various roles in BHP as Manager Technology, Business Development and Minerals Development. From 1996 to 2001 worked in BHP Minerals. From 2002 to 2007 worked as Global Manager in BHP BIlliton in Exploration, Mining and Resource Optimisation.

From 2007 to 2009 worked as Global Manager Strategic Countries and External Relations (including Russia, China and India) in BHP Billiton. In 2009 was appointed Director Geothermal Energy, Melbourne University. In 2009 was appointed Minerals Consultant to Haoma and Elazac Mining.
