OREANDA-NEWS. July 12, 2010. According to the inspection results Commission for inspection checkup of certified labour protection works and waterworks status checkup extended the period of Balakovo NPP (Saratov region) security certificate for a year.

The inspection was carried out at the nuclear power plant experts from All-Russian Research Institute for the Operation of Atomic Power Stations OJSC (VNIIAES) certification authority and a representative of Rosatom State Corporation were among the members of the commission. “This is a yearly inspection carried out in order to confirm validity of the security certificate. According to the inspection results the period of the certificate has been extended for a year. Next year at Balakovo NPP inspection checkup will be substituted with security certificate reissue procedure”. The program of the inspection consists of two parts.

The first one never changes since it is stipulated in the Labour Code of the Russian Federation and implies collection of documents concerning the employer’s activity aimed at ensuring occupational safety of employees, assessment of work places, instructions, knowledge checkup, assessment of work safety service activity. The second part of the program changes every year — the commission chooses a certain kind of NPP activity and carries out its perfect checkup implying visiting the subdivisions and workplaces and equipment examination. “If last year special attention at Balakovo NPP was given to hoisting machines and checkup of the license for fire and explosion dangerous work, this year the experts have examined the waterworks and documents allowing their operation”, the NPP representative specified. According to his version, in the course of inspection the commission did not reveal any obstacles for safe operation of the waterworks at Balakovo NPP. “According to the experts, the plant is operated in the normal conditions, all documents to have been drawn up and put into effect for safe operation of the waterworks are available”.
