OREANDA-NEWS. July 12, 2010. During January-June of 2010 Commercial Port of Vladivostok handled 3.3 m tonnes of cargo: export - 1.9 m tonnes, import - 647,400 tonnes, cabotage - 745,000 tonnes.

Container volume amounted to 148,278 TEU: export - 54,043 TEU, import - 43,998 TEU, cabotage - 50,237 TEU.

In 2Q of 2010 the port's cargo turnover totaled 1.6mln. tonnes. Total export amounted to 817,000 tonnes, while imports were 390,000 tonnes. Cabotage cargo constituted 400,000 tonnes. Container handling volume totaled 80,020 TEU (cabotage - 26,205 TEU, import - 25,591 TEU, export -28,224 TEU).

In June 2010 the port handled 546,800 tonnes: export - 252,600 tonnes, import - 156,500 tonnes, cabotage - 137,700 tonnes.  The number of containers handled totaled 27,962 TEU (cabotage - 8,463 TEU, import - 9,744 TEU, export - 9,755 TEU).

According to Chief Operations Officer Sergey Lopunov, summarizing the results of the first six months of this year the port saw a 28% increase in cargo turnover compared with the corresponding period of last year. Major cargoes handled were export metal products and coke. At the same time compared with the last year the port saw a significant increase in import and cabotage cargo volumes of 237,000 tonnes and 367,000 tonnes respectively. The port anticipates further cargo handling volumes increase. The port is awaiting for 4,000 en-route wagons/platforms loaded with coke, metal products and containers. All port facilities are ready for handling this cargo.
