OREANDA-NEWS. July 13, 2010. Within the scope of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Karelia of the Russian Federation and the Government of Byelorussia on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation as of June 28, 1999, representatives of local national and cultural autonomies of Byelorussians of Karelia have taken part in the international seminar Experience of Byelorussia and the Republic of Karelia in the Sphere of Development and Preservation of Peoples' Native Languages and Cultures in a Polycultural Society held in the town of Grodno.

As a result of the seminar, a Memorandum on the Plan of coordinated activities between the Authorized Representative for Affairs of Religions and Nationalities of Belarus and the Ministry of the Republic of Karelia on National Politics and Relations with Religious Associations was signed. The document signed assumes rendering organizational, methodical and other assistance to activity of public associations of the Republic of Karelia and Byelorussia, holding methodical seminars, information exchange concerning scientific and practical activities in the sphere of interethnic and state-confessional relations, assistance to publishing information on the state national policy implementation in mass media.
