OREANDA-NEWS. July 14, 2010. Nevinnomyssky Azot has started the latest in a series of environmental projects—the installation of gas analysis systems for measuring the concentration of nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide and oxygen. The new equipment will enable the company to monitor the content of the substances it emits into the atmosphere and reduce the company’s impact on the environment. The company plans to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by 5 mt p.a. and ammonia emissions by 7 mt p.a.

The gas analysis systems will be installed in shops 1-B and 1-V. Fumes composed of various chemicals form during the ammonia production process. The output signals of the gas analytical systems for each component being measured will be connected to the shop’s automatic process control (APC) systems, which will archive the information obtained and automatically alert the operators about deviations from permissible values.

A total of 1.9 million rubles have been spent on the project, which includes the purchase of equipment, installation and testing.

The gas analysis systems are made by the Smolensk-based state-owned company Analitpribor on the basis of Ankat-410 analyzers. Nevinnomyssk Azot’s design department is preparing a plan for their assembly.
