OREANDA-NEWS. July 20, 2010. Enel OGK-5 and the Government of the Sverdlovsk region, signed a Memorandum of Intent aimed at fostering economic development in the region through joint efforts in fly ash projects adding value to this by-product of coal generation.

According to this Memorandum, Enel OGK-5 commits to evaluate the economic feasibility of a new and innovative utilization of fly ash as well as transferring the results of such analysis to the local institution and particularly to the Region. In fact, fly ash can be extensively utilized by the construction sector but other industrial uses can be explored. In turn, the Government of Sverdlovsk region expresses its readiness to support third party investors willing to use fly ashes in their industrial processes, in accordance with relevant Russian legislation at the federal and regional level.

Within one month from the entry into force of the memorandum, the Parties will appoint a joint working team to elaborate a comprehensive action plan by the end of 2010. The joint working team shall ensure exchange of all relevant information and documentation between Parties.
