OREANDA-NEWS. July 23, 2010. EuroChem has completed pre-design work for the planned construction of a bulk terminal at the commercial port of Ust-Luga, Leningrad Region. Based on the current option being considered, the terminal may be located in the northern portion of the Ust-Luga port on a 21-hectare parcel. The land for the terminal will be reclaimed using gravel and screened soil extracted during the dredging of the port.

The planned bulk terminal will be used to export EuroChem fertilizers via the Baltic Sea. The terminal will have 3 berths with a total length of 682 m and 2 warehouses with a storage capacity of up to 340,000 metric tons of mineral fertilizers. The terminal is expected to have a capacity of approximately 5 mmt p.a. The project is expected to be completed in 4 years.

EuroChem plans to establish a subsidiary in the Leningrad Region to obtain the necessary permits, organize the construction and fulfill the functions of general contracter/builder in the Region. The company intends to develop detailed plans for the transshipment terminal at the port by the end of the year.
