OREANDA-NEWS. July 28, 2010. "Absolutely free, no public accounting!", so answered the press question on the service cost in a new Nuclear Medicine Centre (NMC) Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov, who opened this centre on the premises of Kyiv city oncology hospital.

"We would welcome private investments, allocate free sites for construction of private clinics, but all health facilities, construction of which was financed from the budget, will provide their services free of charge for citizens of Ukraine", underlined the Head of the Government.

Kyiv Nuclear Medicine Centre will use positron emission tomography (PET) technology related to the field of nuclear medicine. PET is very effective method for clinical studies of patients with oncopathology that provides possibilities to diagnose early cancer as soon as possible with maximum results and quality and significantly impact on the timeliness and quality of further treatment.

The decision on establishing this Centre was made by the Government of Viktor Yanukovych in 2007. Then the First Vice Prime Minister Mykola Azarov took over personal control of the building. 228 million UAH were allocated for construction works and the purchase of PET equipment. Construction works have been suspended after coming to power of the Government of Yulia Tymoshenko. She hadn’t allocated in fall 2009 70 million UAH promised by her to complete the object with 90 percent readiness.

After forming in the spring 2010 the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of Mykola Azarov it was required 112.7 million UAH to take into use this Centre. The Government allocated these funds and the Nuclear Medicine Centre was completed.

"During the feast of the Protection of the Holy Virgin, on October 14, the Centre must receive the first patients", said Mykola Azarov.
