OREANDA-NEWS. July 28, 2010. Belarus’ retail turnover, including the public catering sector, went up 15% on the year in January-June 2010 to 30.821 trillion Belarusian rubles (Br), an official with the National Statistics Committee told. The increase in retail sales is projected at 14%-15% in 2010.

Retail sales by trading companies rose 15.3% on the year in the period to 29.3 trillion rubles, while public catering companies’ sales went up 9.2% on the year to 1.5 trillion rubles.

Of the total, trade organizations accounted for 73.9%, and individual entrepreneurs and newly formed unitary companies accounted for the remaining 26.1%.

Belarus-made consumer goods accounted for 77.2% of the retail trade turnover. Trade at markets was not accounted for. The share of Belarusian foodstuffs was at 85.1%, Belarusian non-foods at 66% in retail trade.

The share of private companies in the total retail turnover was at 82.9%, up 1.6 percentage points from January-June 2009, state companies 13.4%, down 1.5 percentage points year-on-year, while the share of foreign companies stood at 3.7%, down 0.1 of a percentage point.
