OREANDA-NEWS. July 29, 2010. The third guidance on harmonization of national legislation in agriculture and food with EU standards was presented in Moldova. This guidance – is one of investigations in the field of approaching to EU standards in Moldova.

According to the head of EU delegation to Moldova Dirk Schubel the goal of investigation is to help the authorities, taking the decisions and implementing them, in determination of direction, priorities and planning of future paths within this process in the next few years. In his turn, the co-author of the project, lawyer from EU Richard Moody noted that the guidance concerns of such issues as: trade and necessity of consumers’ protection, EU norms in agriculture-food sector, current achievements and key priorities.

At the same time, the guidance includes some recommendations for improvement of quality and safety of food, such as establishment of integrated agency, responsible for food safety, etc. Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov noted that by now 60 standard acts had been harmonized with European standards and 47 more would be brought into accord with EU legislation.
