OREANDA-NEWS. July 29, 2010. COMSTAR – United TeleSystems (COMSTAR-UTS, LSE: CMST), the largest operator of integrated telecommunication services in Russia and the CIS, announces completion of their international IP network telecom node upgrade in the city of Stockholm, Sweden.

Within the framework of the upgrade, a new high performance Cisco ASR 9000 was installed.

“Telecom node in Stockholm is one of the most important to arrange COMSTAR-UTS overseas IP network; as this is one of COMSTAR-UTS gateways to Internet global network. “Hardware upgrade procedure makes it possible for the operator to create an enhanced mechanism for service provision and ensure reliable telecom network operation,” Viktor Belov, COMSTAR-UTS Network and Service Platform Development Director pointed out. “It is the right equipment vendor choice that matters in such projects. A new high performance Cisco platform allows us to transfer the European backbone network segment to the new 100 Gigabit Ethernet technologies in the future,” Mr. Belov added.

At present, the COMSTAR international Internet network is connected to the global Internet network in several major nodes in London, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Paris, Los Angeles and New York.
