OREANDA-NEWS. August 03, 2010. According to the NBM, the decrease in the monetary base was caused by the reduction of net internal assets by 331,7 million leis (6,3%). The volume of money in circulation increased from 8 billion 484,1 million leis in May up to 8 billion 812,7 million leis in June.

In the structure of monetary base the share of money in circulation has increased from 78,7% in May up to 84,2% in June. At the same time, the share of bank reserves has decreased from 21,3% up to 15,8%. Money mass M2 in June increased by 492,8 million lei (2,3%) - up to 21 billion 802,2 million leis.

At the same time, the money mass M3 increased by 391,8 million leis (1,2%) and amounted to 32 billion 951,1 million leis as of late June 2010. According to the NBM, the growth in M2 index is caused by the increase in the balance of deposits in the national currency by 164,9 million leis (1,3%) and in the cash balance in circulation by 328,6 million leis (3,9%). At the same time the monetary instruments balance reduced by 0,7 million leis (0,5%).

The foreign currency deposits (converted into leis) decreased by 101 million leis (0,9%). Expressed in U.S. dollars, they amounted to USD868,3 million or by USD8,3 million less than in the previous month. The share of foreign currency deposits (converted into leis) in the total money mass (M3) decreased from 34,6% in May up to 33,8% in June.
