OREANDA-NEWS. August 04, 2010. After completing the development and attracting investments programs in the region, Crimea is best placed to become one of the most attractive recreation and rehabilitation centres, over which give preference the citizens of Ukraine and other CIS countries. Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Borys Kolesnikov said this at a meeting on the strategic development of Crimea, which was held in Simferopol today under the chairmanship of President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych.

According to the Vice Prime Minister, Crimea currently lose the field with neighbouring countries, particularly Turkey, where in 2009 almost 600 thousand Ukrainians had a rest.

To increase the attractiveness of Crimea among citizens of Ukraine and other CIS countries, Borys Kolesnikov proposed to implement a number of practical steps. In particular, according to him, the operation of law concerning exemption from income tax for Crimean hotels should be extended till 2022. In addition, the Vice Prime Minister proposes to provide bank loan compensations for construction of hotels and other types of the tourist infrastructure.

Borys Kolesnikov also urged businessmen to make appropriate investments in Crimean transport infrastructure: "It concerns the construction of new modern terminals at airports, building of roads so every tourist could easily get to the place of resort".

"Crimea has significant opportunities to build new tourist districts, so to say, from a new leaf on vacant areas of western and eastern coasts of Crimea", concluded the Vice Prime Minister.
