The Department for Control over Electric Power Industry of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) took part in the All-Russia Professional Conference of the providers of last resort and energy suppliers, with the presentation on "Antimonopoly Regulation and Control of the Wholesale and Retail Electric Power Markets: Practical Experience of Antimonopoly Enforcement in the Electric Power Industry", reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The conference discussed the ways to improve the pattern and mechanisms of pricing on the wholesale and retail markets of electric power (capacity), antimonopoly regulation and enforcement on the relevant markets and the government policy on energy saving and increasing energy efficiency.

Attendees exchanges opinions and shared in-hand experience in the field of cooperation between network companies and energy supplies, and pressing issues of entry to and participation in the wholesale market of electric power (capacity).

"Discussing the issues related to performance of electric energy markets especially in anticipation of competitive capacity outtake in 2010 is very important for market participants as well as for the industry infrastructure organizations and government agencies responsible for proper market performance and providing conditions for further development of competition in оthe electric power industry, said Vitaly Korolyov, the Head of the FAS Department.
