OREANDA-NEWS. August 10, 2010. EuroChem has financed the repairs of polymer chain reaction (PCR) laboratory at the P.N. Prokhorov Central Regional Hospital in Kingisepp (Leningrad Region). “We can now conduct tests to find infections that are not identified by ordinary procedures,” said Sergei Sobolev, Medical Director of the hospital.

PCR is one of the most accurate and sensitive methods for diagnosis of infectious diseases, as it enables diagnosis of slow-growing agents, without recourse to time-consuming microbiological methods. The Company has committed RUR 6m for repair of the laboratory.

EuroChem had earlier acquired a computer tomograph, a unique ultrasonic diagnostic equipment costing 20 mln Roubles. According to Head of Radiation Department Vladimir Gushchev, “its availability at the hospital in Kingisepp had tremendous value for residents of the city and surrounding districts. At present computer tomograph is an important tool for performing a broad range of diagnostic procedures.  In particular, it helps detect pathologies of internal organs at early stages, and accurate diagnosis guarantees a high-quality, fast treatment.”
