OREANDA-NEWS. August 16, 2010. Prime Minister Vlad Filat participated in the ceremony occasioned by the constructors' professional day, the government's communications and press relations department has said.

The event was attended by heads of construction companies, trade-unions' representatives, constructors, architects, designers, workers of the construction materials industry and labour veterans.

The prime minister praised the constructors' work, noting that employees in this field make our lives more dynamic and developing.

"It is not compulsory to be present on the building site, in order to be a constructor. We build up during our lives. I also did it and I know what it actually means," Filat said.

The premier said that the global financial crisis has affected the national economy, especially the construction field. Filat added that the government was undertaking actions in order to support this sector.

"The construction sector is the engine of our economy and we are doing our utmost to make it start and to accelerate it," Filat said.

The prime-minister thanked the constructors for their contribution in the alleviation of the floods' consequences and for their willingness to get involved in the building of houses for flood victims. Filat said that he was sure that the project meant to provide dwellings to over 2,000 people would be a success.

Vlad Filat positively appreciated the Moldovan constructors' performances, noting that they had showed their proficiency not only in Moldova, but also in Russia, Ukraine, Italy, Spain, etc.

"I wish you remarkable achievements and interesting projects, because it is important to erect a free and prosperous country with beautiful buildings," Filat said.

The prime minister announced that the government would launch a new project on social dwellings in autumn, assessed at 300 million euros.

Filat handed governmental diplomas to the best managers in the construction sector, appreciating their proficiency and remarkable merits in the modernization of the field.

Construction and Regional Development Minister Marcel Raducan said that the constructors' professional day had been celebrated for the 55 years in Moldova. He thanked the constructors for their contribution in the building of houses for citizens and in the creation of material goods.

Raducan expressed confidence that the problems in the construction sector would be solved due to the government's support and the joint efforts.

For their part, representatives of the construction sector said that there were certain rises in the field, and if the pace is kept the crisis might be overcome.
