OREANDA-NEWS. August 16, 2010. Hydraulic testing at the Central Kara Kum  – Yilanly gas-compressor station Pipeline, laid by specialists of МРК Inziniring, a company of  ITERA International Group of Companies, was a success. The testing proved that the lineal part of the new pipeline with a length of about 200 km and the diameter of 720 mm was ready for operation, reported the press-centre of ITERA.

The Russian specialists are currently completing development of the gas transportation system. The system is intended to ensure transportation of natural gas from the Zeagly-Darvazin group of natural gas fields located in the central part of the desert to Turkmenistan – Europe gas-main pipeline. The development of those fields commenced long ago. Until recently, those fields were considered unprofitable because of their dispersion and remoteness from gas-mains, though. It was only the usage of modern technologies in the era of new Renaissance that allowed for implementation of an efficient project and commissioning the new gas fields.

The new project implementation is in line with an ordinance by the President of Turkmenistan. According to that document, Turkmengaz, a state concern, made an agreement with МРК Inziniring to design and construct a 200 kilometer-long gas pipeline.

Specialist of SC Turkmengaz shall transport up to 3 billion cu m of natural gas a year from the fields developed in the Kara Kum to Yilanly gas-compressor station along the new gas pipeline. That hydrocarbon raw material is to add to the stream of gas collected in various fields of the country that is exported to the northern direction, which is one among the oldest and initial export routes.

Specialists of an affiliate of МРК Inziniring of Russia were involved in development of oil and gas complex of Turkmenistan for the first time. They, within the frameworks of this Project, have accomplished an entire variety of work from design and completing the pipeline with units and machinery down to construction of this new gas transportation system based on modern technology and equipment. In particular, when laying the gas pipeline, Russians used pre-insulated pipes to considerably extend their life-time. To carry out welding tasks under the desert conditions, automatic welding complexes CRC EVANCC using gas mix, as well as semi-automatic welding complexes Innershild using high quality electrode wire had been purchased. Quality control of weld joints is accomplished by means of ultrasonic and radiographic equipment which allowed for speeding up construction and assembly work considerably. Modern materials and equipment from world leading producers were employed to accomplish the assembly of communication and remote control facilities.

The usage of modern equipment and high qualification of welders, who had been certified at an international level, allowed for successful completion of welding work and accomplishing the pipeline testing. Insulation was accomplished at the entire pipe. Laying the pipe and back filling of the pipe have been finished. Moreover, the contractors have completed the development of ten block valves and four receiver-start purifier and diagnostic operation chambers. According to the Contract, the contractor had accomplished the construction of a 200 kilometer-long high voltage electricity transmission line, transformer substations and is currently involved in setting electricity supply to the block valves and the pipeline chambers. Simultaneously, an optical carrier is being laid between the facilities and assembly of remote control systems is being performed to allow for an overall monitoring of basic parameters of the pipeline operation in Kara Kum.

МРК Inziniring fully equipped the construction the Kara Kum pipeline. Implementation the Central Kara Kum  – Yilanly CS construction project shall be completed by mid September. The constructors plan to accomplish the complex testing work and ensure the start-up by that time.
