OREANDA-NEWS. August 16, 2010. The National Bank of Belarus (NBB) expects an increase in international reserve assets to USD 6.2-7.5 billion by the end of the year, NBB Governor Petr Prokopovich told a news conference.

“We will have to work very hard to increase our international reserve assets to USD 6.2-7.5 billion this year,” he said.

According to Prokopovich, reserves will be growing because of the anticipated increase in currency proceeds in the second half of 2010, privatization progress and external borrowing.

As of July 1, 2010, Belarus’ reserves under IMF SDDS stood at USD 5.5 billion, down 2.3% in the first six months of the year.
