OREANDA-NEWS. August 16, 2010. Belarus’ foreign commodity trade deficit amounted to USD 3.51 billion in January-June 2010, compared to a USD 3.889 billion deficit in January-June 2009, according to the National Statistics Committee.

Exports rose 23.7% in January-June 2010 year-on-year to USD 11.246 billion, and imports increased 13.7% to USD 14.756 billion.

Exports from Belarus included USD 5 978 billion worth of supplies to CIS states, up 50.4% on the year, including exports to Russia, which stood at USD 4.425 million, up 48.9% and to Kazakhstan at USD 224.3 million, up 74.3%.

Exports to non-CIS countries amounted to USD 5.268 billion as of July 1, 2010, up 3% on the year.

Belarusian imports from CIS countries rose 9.3% to USD 9.019 billion, including imports from Russia at USD 8.082 billion, up 6.6% on the year, and from Kazakhstan at USD 76.8 million, up 110%.

Imports from non-CIS countries went up 21.4% on the year to USD 5.738 billion.

The deficit of commodity trade with CIS countries came to USD 3.04 million, down 28.9% on the year in the period. The deficit of commodity trade with Russia fell 20.7% year-on-year in January-June 2010 to USD 3.657 million. In trade with Kazakhstan, Belarus showed a USD 147.5 million surplus, up 60%.

The deficit of foreign trade with countries outside the CIS reached USD 469.6 million in January-June 2010, compared to a surplus of USD 385.3 million surplus in January-June 2009.

The CIS accounted for 57.7% of Belarus’ trade turnover in January-June 2010, Russia accounted for 48.1%, while non-CIS foreign states are responsible for 42.3%.
