OREANDA-NEWS. August 16, 2010. Since the beginning of 2010 Sibirtelecom OJSC has invested 96.6 mln. rubles in the purchase of Russian equipment to construct passive optical GPON networks in Omsk region. Russian Enterprise Eltex LLC supplied this equipment. 

The GPON technology was the first launched by Sibirtelecom among the Internet service providers.  At present the GPON networks have been constructed by the Company in the biggest Siberian cities, such as Omsk, Novosibirsk, and Krasnoyarsk; pilot zones are under construction in other regions. Enterprise Eltex LLC is one of the major suppliers of the Russian equipment to Sibirtelecom OJSC; in particular, it supplies the equipment for the construction of GPON networks. Since 2004 Eltex has delivered equipment for МС-240 digital electronic stations and witching equipment that is used mainly in the rural areas, as well as the systems of data transfer for National Project “Education”.   

“For many years we use the equipment produced by Eltex Company and we received evidence that its quality is highly competitive with foreign counterparts, and the available technical support makes the work more efficient,” says Maksim Kudryavtsev, Director of Omsk Branch of Sibirtelecom OJSC. “Besides, purchasing Russian equipment we support domestic producers and make investments in the development of own telecommunication sector.”   

In 2010 Sibirtelecom plans to assign about 3.4 bln rubles for the construction of GPON and ETTH networks using domestic equipment. These investments will be absorbed in Novosibirsk, Omsk, Kemerovo, Irkutsk, and Tomsk regions; Krasnoyarsk, Altai, and Zabaikalski Krais, Republics of Buryatia and Khakassia. Next year Sibirtelecom OJSC will continue to actively participate with domestic producers, particularly in purchasing the equipment for the development of new services, digital television, and systems of data transmission.
