OREANDA-NEWS. August 19, 2010. JSC GC UES branch – Backbone electric grids (MES) of West Siberia – started construction of 220 kV substation Vasiliev in Nizhnevartovsk district of Khanty-Mansiyskiy Autonomous Okrug – Yugra. Today a ceremony was held on constructing the first pole in the foundation of the future substation named after Viktor Alexeevich Vasiliev, Honored power engineer of Russia who passed away in March of this year.

The following people participated in the ceremony: Oleg Budargin, Chairman of JSC FGC UES Management Board, Sergey Streltsov, General Director of MES of West Siberia, Vyacheslav Novitskiy, First Deputy Chairman of the Government of Khanty-Mansiyskiy Autonomous Okrug, heads of local administration, representatives from JSC Slavneft-Megionneftegaz and also relatives and colleagues of Viktor Vasiliev.

The new substation will enable to connect producing companies of JSC Slavneft-Megionneftegaz to the Unified national electric grid (UNEG). In the result customers will get power capacity of 25 MW. It will enable to ensure reliable power supply to oil fields of JSC Slavneft-Megionneftegaz. In addition, this project commissioning will enable enhancing of regime-running situation at Nizhnevartovsk power center; eliminate grid constraints, providing for connecting new customers to the UNEG. Also the new facility will reduce utilization of substations 220 kV Urievskaya and Kiryanovskaya that will enable to dispose equipment for repairing without constraining the customers.

In the course of construction at the site of substation 220 kV Vasiliev the following facilities will be installed: outdoor switchgears 110 kV and 220 kV, two autotransformers of 125 MVA each, current transformers, high-frequency rejectors, closing switches, surge suppressors, isolating switches; and 110 kV and 220 kV line overhangs will be constructed. Construction is planned to be completed in 2011. Total amount of investments into construction will exceed RUR 1.3 billion.

Viktor Alexeevich Vasiliev (1944-2010) made invaluable contribution to the Russian electric grid complex development. He spent over 476 years working with the electric power industry out of which 40 years he worked at power facilities in West Siberia. From 2002 Mr. Vasiliev was Deputy Chairman of JSC FGC UES Management Board, was member of the Management Board of the Company.
