In January-June 2010, compared with the same period of the last year, Moldova has increased production of greengrocery canned food by 13,2% - up to 209,8 million leis (USD17,6 million). As it was informed in the National Bureau of Statistics, particularly, in January-June 2010 the production of vegetable and fruit juices in kind has increased by 35,5% - up to 7,49 thousand tons, of canned vegetables – by 93,2% - up to 8,43 thousand tons.

At the same time, the production of canned fruit has reduced by 70,7% - up to 406,1 tons. Moldova’s canneries export more than 90% of the total output. Traditionally, the largest consumer of Moldovan fruit and vegetable canned products is Russia.

The production of greengrocery canned food in Moldova in 2009 reduced in terms of value by 32,3% - up to 610,3 million leis. In January-December 2009 the production of vegetable and fruit juices in kind reduced by 27,2% - up to 27,9 thousand tons, of canned vegetables – by 36,1% - up to 22,4 thousand tons, of canned fruit – by 79,3% - up to 3,5 thousand tons.
