OREANDA-NEWS. August 20, 2010. This was the decision taken at the meeting of the Government on the initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture for stimulation of oil-products import in the country from Belarus, reduction of time and costs of transportation that must decrease the final selling price of Belorussian fuel and lubricants on Moldavian market.

Up to the present moment Belarus, in contrast to Romania and the Ukraine, was able to import oil-products to Moldova only by railway transport, what increased considerably the time and cost of transportation. Thus, they spent for transportation of Belorussian fuel and lubricants to Moldova by railway up to 3 weeks and more, while transport by road took 2-3 days. Due to filed amendments, the Belorussian fuels and lubricants will be transported to Moldova by motor vehicles through the customs station Otaci-Mogilev-Podolskiy.

According to estimates of the Ministry of Agriculture, granting the right to deliver the oil-products from Belarus to Moldova by motor vehicles will allow reducing the cost of 1 ton of fuel by USD100-150 and selling diesel oil to agricultural producers cheaper by 1 lei per 1 liter at the minimum (USD1=11,95 Moldavian leis).

The share of Belarus accounts for 15% of the total volume of petrol imports to Moldova and 28% - of diesel oil imports. The largest importer of oil-products to Moldova is Romania, the share of which account for 60% of total petrol imports volume and 50% of diesel oil imports. The share of the Ukraine account for 3% of petrol imports and 8% - of diesel oil imports.
