OREANDA-NEWS. August 20, 2010. For the first time, JSC “Aeroflot – Russian airlines” was put in the list of 25 world leading airlines published by “Air Transport World” magazine, due to its successful financial and economic results of 2009. Judging by the operating profit (359 million dollars), JSC “Aeroflot” is on the 10th place after Lufthansa group (388 million dollars). It holds the 18th place in terms of net profit (122 million dollars), reported the press-centre of Aeroflot.

The first place by both parameters belongs to Emirates Airline. Among the world leaders in terms of operating and net profit in 2009, only three European airlines and no other Russian airlines besides Aeroflot are mentioned in the “Air Transport World” rating.

The authoritative business magazine emphasizes in its July publication the vigorous activity of JSC “Aeroflot” during this year, including consolidation of a number of Russian aviation assets. Special mention is made that Aeroflot becomes the first Russian carrier offering Internet and mobile services on board. Information is also provided about new destinations in the winter schedule, which will come into operation from the end of October 2010.

“The prestigious international rating actually evidenced the efficiency of measures taken by our management under the crisis conditions that seriously undermined the position of some big players on the global aviation market, - noted Shamil Kurmashov, Deputy General Director for Finance and Investment at JSC “Aeroflot – Russian airlines”. – “This year JSC “Aeroflot” is planning not only to keep its position but also to strengthen it, both in Russia and abroad.”
