OREANDA-NEWS. August 20, 2010. Following Dashoguz farmers grain growers in the other regions of the country joined in the winter crop sowing campaign.

Grain growers launched the preparation for the sowing campaign upon completing the 2010 harvest campaign. They had ploughed up and applied fertilizers on the areas allocated to winter crop, one of the strategic crops in the country.

According to the Turkmenobahyzmat Association, over 4,000 tillage tractors, 1,800 seeding machines and other necessary equipment are engaged in this year’s sowing campaign.

As in previous years, in 2010 grain growers sow the wheat varieties such as Juvan, Yoloten-1, Sahrai, Yubileynaya-100, Bitarap and Batko adapted well to local climatic and soil conditions.

To mark the beginning of he sowing campaign the seminars involving velayat, town and etrap khyakimliks officials, the specialists of the subdivisions of the Turkmengallaonumleri Association, the Turkmenobahyzmat Association, the Turkmenstandartlary State Service, agricultural workers, the heads of farmers associations, agronomists, machine-operators and grain growers were held in Ahal, Balkan, Lebap and Mary Velayats.

The participants discussed a broad spectrum of issues regarding the strict fulfillment of the agricultural work plan and the effective activities of mobile brigades during the sowing campaign. Expressing gratitude to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for his consistent support to rural workers, the meeting participants assured the Turkmen leader that they would work selflessly and spare no effort to fulfill the tasks set by the President to increase agricultural output and ensure an abundance of food products in the country.

According to tradition, the elders blessed the start of the sowing campaign. The first high-quality bread grains were put in the well-tilled soil. Then machine-operators picked up the baton of the sowing campaign.

An exposition of agricultural machines, weed and pest killers, seeds of ak bugday wheat variety and agricultural products was arranged in the framework of the seminar. Local artists and art groups performed a concert.
