OREANDA-NEWS. August 20, 2010. Ingostrakh paid another insurance indemnity of 6 mln rubles to a major Russian bank after the malefactors had burglarized the ATM and stolen the cash from it.

The police filed a criminal case under the Russian Criminal Code Article No 158 “Large –scale theft". As said in documents provided, on May 26, 2010 unidentified persons entered the checkpoint of a military base in the Sverdlovsk Region where the ATM was located, and with the help of gas or electric welding equipment broke into the ATM. Then the burglars stole the cash kept in it and escaped.

Technical inspection has shown that it is inadvisable to restore the ATM due to high cost of the repair works far exceeding the insured value of the ATM. After substantiating all the circumstances of the incident and obtaining all necessary documents Ingosstrakh recognized the incident as an insured event.

The damaged ATM with cash inside was insured by Ingosstrakh within the insurance program for ATMs containing cash. The insurance covers the indemnification of losses including those resulting from malicious acts of third parties, burglary and robbery.

The insurance indemnity was paid both for the stolen money and the damaged ATM according to its cost under the terms of the insurance police.
