OREANDA-NEWS. August 20, 2010. Construction of a strategic object Kurgan ski complex proceeds in Petrozavodsk. Karelia was assigned 100 million roubles from the federal center. These funds will help to complete the second starting complex of the ski complex.

The second starting complex includes office building, maintenance unit, and heating main. Besides, the road up to the swing gate will be asphalted and arrangement of the area where biathletes start and finish will be completed. Electronic equipment for the biathlon shooting range (board and screen) will be purchased. Earlier it was planned to complete works in the end of this or the beginning of the next year. However, the money was received later than it was planned, and there will be also a small shift in completion of works.

Let's remind, in February of this year construction of the first starting complex which includes illuminated roller-ski line, 6-kilimeter ski line and biathlon shooting range (4,000 square meters) was completed. Nowhere in the Northwest except for our city there is such a semi-closed shooting range. The first competitions have already been held on the new objects.

In the past year or two there occurred serious progress in construction of Kurgan ski complex in Petrozavodsk. The roller-ski line and the biathlon shooting range will make it possible for the sportsmen to be in training at home without going to extra team practice sessions. In the future it will possible to play host to the biathletes properly at Kurgan, as the third start-up facility includes construction of a hotel there.
