OREANDA-NEWS. August 25, 2010. Since the start of 2010, 10 idle wells have been reactivated at the Severo-Varyoganskoe field in TNK-BP’s Varyoganneftegaz target subsidiary with the help of hydraulic fracturing. Their average flow-rate is 13 tons of oil per day, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP.

A further 5 such operations are planned by the end of this year. Severo-Varyoganskoe is the most “mature” of Varyoganneftegaz oil fields, with a production history that stretches back over 30 years.

The current focus is on reducing the idle well stock by means of well interventions such as hydraulic fracturing. For these purposes, the idle wells have been ranked by type and workover complexity and priority candidates have been identified.
