OREANDA-NEWS. August 25, 2010.  A delegation of Kursk Oblast led by Governor Alexander Mikhailov is on a visit to Belarus.

The delegation includes high-ranking officials of the administration and the office of the Kursk Oblast government, heads of major enterprises and organizations of the region.

On 25 August, the delegation is visiting Gomel where it will take part in a session of the joint working group and hold negotiations with the local authorities. The delegation will tour the Gomselmash company, the Molochnyye Producty dairy, and the National Scientific Center for Radiation Medicine and Human Ecology. On 26 August, the delegation will visit the National Library of Belarus, Beltelecom and Belkommunmash.

The parties are set to sign an action plan for 2011-2012 to the agreement on trade, economic, sci-tech and cultural cooperation signed on 25 January 2002 by the government of Belarus and the administration of Kursk Oblast, the cooperation agreement signed by Belarusian State Agrarian and Technical University and I. Ivanov Kursk State Agricultural Academy, and the protocol of establishing twin-town relations between Lgov District of Kursk Oblast and Rechitsa District of Gomel Oblast.

In January-June 2010, the trade between Belarus and Kursk Oblast made up USD 49.3 million. Belarus exported USD 34.7 million worth of goods, and imported commodities worth USD 14.6 million. The trade rose 1.4 times compared to the same period in 2009, the export 1.6 times and the import by 6.1%. Belarus posted a trade surplus of USD 20.1 million.

Belarus’ major exports to Kursk Oblast are tires, trucks, artificial threads and yarn, elevators, gas stoves, construction materials, foodstuffs.

Belarus imported ferrous metals, flour-and-cereals products, conveyor belts, calculating machines and electric accumulators.
