OREANDA-NEWS. August 26, 2010. Belarus hopes to improve its positions in the World Bank’s Doing Business 2011 rankings by about 10 notches, reads a statement of the Economy Ministry posted on the website of the ministry.

“The preliminary analysis of our performance suggests that Belarus may improve its overall ranking by about 10 notches in 2011,” the statement reads.

A more precise estimate will be provided as soon as the World Bank analyzes the reforms Belarus conducted in the period June 2009 through June 1, 2010 and progress of other countries.

The Economy Ministry reiterated that the country continued systemic efforts to improve the business environment in Belarus as there were substantial reserves to improve its positions. More decisive and efficient measures were called for to support business initiative and enhance the investment appeal of the country.

Last year, Belarus became number 58 by the overall ease of doing business and was recognized as one of top ten reformers globally.
