OREANDA-NEWS. August 27, 2010. Ukraine may limit sugar imports from Belarus if continues delivering cane sugar instead of beet sugar, Ukrainian Ambassador to Belarus Roman Bezsmertny told.

“It will depend on the analysis of supplies. If Belarus keeps substituting beet sugar supplies with cane sugar, Ukraine will have to take this step,” he said.

He said there would be no measures if Belarus agreed to monitor supplies to Ukraine and delivered only beet sugar.

The diplomat said Ukraine could only resort to sanctions authorized by WTO, despite the fact that Belarus was not a WTO member.
