OREANDA-NEWS. August 27, 2010. Br125 billion will be invested in the upgrade of the Gomeltransneft Druzhba company in 2010.

In his words, this amount is close to the volume of capital investments the company has made in the recent years – USD 40-50 million annually. The money was spent on the upgrade of the pipelines, oil pumping stations and other infrastructure facilities. The company maintains almost 2,000 km of oil pipelines. “We know the technical condition of each square centimeter,” Sergei Sosnovsky said. According to foreign specialists, the Belarusian leg of the transnational oil transportation system is among the most reliable ones; Belarus has ensured smooth operation and environmental safety of all the facilities it is responsible for.

At present, Belarus is constructing two oil storage tanks with the capacity of 50,000 cubic meters each and preparing for the construction of another two. This will allow renovating the oil storage, increase its capacities and enhance the reliability of the pipelines.

To ensure the smooth operation and efficient management of the pipelines the company uses its own communications network that includes 1,700km of copper and 650km of fiber-optic main lines.
