OREANDA-NEWS. September 03, 2010. A new teaching and research lab equipped with the help of Freight One opened on the Knowledge Day (September 1) at the Rostov State University of Railway Transport (RGUPS). The ceremony was attended by Freight One’s Deputy CEO for Personnel and Social Affairs Yuri Dyakonov, RGUPS Rector Vladimir Kolesnikov and Freight One’s Rostov Branch Director Vadim Zhukov.

The laboratory, called "Logistics Support for the Transport Services Market" is intended for 3rd- to 5th-year students pursuing degrees in transport process management and specializing in the logistics of product movement, including transportation.

The laboratory is equipped with cutting-edge equipment. To ensure proper instruction, computers have been purchased along with modern software for demonstrating all types of digital information. High-speed Internet access makes it possible to hold teleconferences and online seminars as well as offer distance learning. The laboratory is equipped with copies of the automated systems that Freight One uses: Galaktika, Freight One Automatic Control System, OSKAR, Rail-Tarif and others.

"The main value of the laboratory is that the future professionals will receive not only theoretical but also practical knowledge in their field before graduating," said Freight One’s Deputy CEO for Personnel and Social Affairs Yuri Dyakonov. This will make them some of the most sought-after professionals in the labor market. They will work for leading transport companies engaged in freight haulage and providing integrated logistics services. The best students will be able to get jobs at our company as well".
At the new lab, students will study logistics technologies using today’s software. "RGUPS was the first university in the sector to receive a license to train people for careers in Logistics and Supply Chain Management with specializations in Logistics in Transportation Systems," said RGUPS Rector Vladimir Kolesnikov. "This is the degree program in which the competition is fiercest at RGUPS nowadays. This year alone, over 100 students have been enrolled in full-time and correspondence courses. For training logisticians, a subdepartment has been created within the Transport Process Management department called Logistics and Transport System Management. The teaching and research laboratory is the latest specialized lecture hall to be added to the university".
