OREANDA-NEWS. September 07, 2010. During the 2010-2011 winter season the number of Star1 Airlines flights operated from Vilnius shall grow more than twice, compared to last winter.  Starting as of end of October, the Lithuanian low-cost airline shall fly to London daily, as of the beginning of November three flights to Dublin and as of the beginning of January – three weekly flights to Milan shall be operated every week, reported the press-centre of Vilnius Airport.

As of 23 October flight schedule is supplemented by the seventh Vilnius – London – Vilnius flight on Saturdays, and the third weekly flight to Dublin is added as of 1 November. During the high season of skiing the airline shall offer three weekly flights to Milan.

„We are a dynamic and flexible Lithuanian airline and do not have the need to coordinate our decisions on the routes from Vilnius with any other priorities. The key for us is to make Vilnius accessible by direct routes“, - says Martynas Laivys, the director of the company.

The decision of Star1 Airlines to increase the number of flights to London is appreciated by Augusta Jaudegyte, the head of Lithuanian National Tourism office in London: „This step shall definitely have a positive impact on the promotion of Lithuanian tourism in the UK market.  We truly hope that soon this airline becomes as popular among the British travellers as it is today among Lithuanians.  We shall work together to increase the number of tourists coming to Lithuania”.

As announced before, in winter season Star1 Airlines shall also operate flights to Munich.  Girona (Barcelona), Heraklion, Palermo and Edinburgh routes shall be renewed in summer.  The Scottish capital shall be reachable from Vilnius during the Christmas period as well.
