OREANDA-NEWS. September 07, 2010. Nizhnekamsk factory of solid steel cord tires built by OJSC TATNEFT in December last year plans to produce 130 thousand SSC certified tires of four different model sizes under the technology of German Continental Company in 2010. In aggregate 6 model sizes will be certified by the year end, reported the press-centre of TATNEFT.

The new products will begin coming to the conveyor of OJSC KAMAZ for assembly of a number of a heavy-duty vehicle models in September.

It is planned to produce 600 thousand SSC tires, including 200 thousand tires under the brand of Continental in 2011. The factory is scheduled to start working at design capacity - 1.2 million tires by 2012. After the factory starts operating at full capacity up to 70% SSC tires consumed in Russia will be produced by the tire complex of TATNEFT.

Investment of TATNEFT Company in the construction of the factory based on the latest technologies of Continental Company amounted to 17.3 billion rubles. Production of the factory will meet current requirements with regard to strength, efficiency and environmental friendliness. Technology of mixing rubber compounds is supposed to use a large share of natural rubber and silica providing for high quality products. The tires fully comply with the European environmental standards. It is for the first time that such production works in the territory of the Russian Federation have been fully implemented by one of the domestic producers of tires.

Application of SSC tires increases the load capacity by 8% and reduces fuel consumption by 15%. Thanks to the triple re-treading possibility the mileage increases up to 400 thousand kilometers. All this allows to significantly reduce man-made impact on the environment. New tires will be used by trucks, buses, and heavy load tractors. European countries practice shows that consumption of SSC tires accounts for up to 90% of the total truck and bus tires consumption.
