OREANDA-NEWS. September 07, 2010. The two heads of state surveyed the information stands New Approaches to Kazakhstan’s Innovation Policy and Innovation Technology in Housing and Utilities, and visited the engineering laboratory Irgetas.

The exhibition, organised on the territory of Serikbaev East Kazakhstan State Technical University, is taking place on the sidelines of the VII Forum of Interregional Cooperation of Russia and Kazakhstan, whose central theme is the interaction between the two countries in the sphere of high technologies.

Rector of Serikbaev East Kazakhstan State Technical University Galimkair Mutanov showed the two heads of state around the exhibition and told them about different ways of supporting innovations and the creation of technology parks in Kazakhstan.

Dmitry Medvedev and Nursultan Nazarbayev also visited the Irgetas (Foundation) engineering laboratories, where the heads of states learned about the workings of a microscope designed for the study the structure of matter at the nanoscale. The laboratory conducts research of polymetallic ores and the possibility of their enrichment.

The two leaders visited an exhibition of innovative technology in the housing and utilities sector, where they learned about the use of sunlight and rainwater as sources of energy and water in residential buildings.

Later, Dmitry Medvedev and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev held talks, during which they discussed the prospects of trade and economic ties, the Customs Union and issues of cooperation within the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO).
