OREANDA-NEWS. September 10, 2010. Belarus’ foreign commodity trade deficit amounted to USD 4.201 billion in January-July 2010, compared to a USD 4.291 billion deficit in January-July 2009, according to the National Statistics Committee.

Exports rose 20.6% in January-July 2010 year-on-year to USD 13.292 billion, and imports increased 14.2% to USD 17.493 billion.

Exports from Belarus included USD 7 159 billion worth of supplies to CIS states, up 48.8% on the year, including exports to Russia, which stood at USD 5.237 million, up 49.2% and to Kazakhstan at USD 273.3 million, up 62%.

Exports to non-CIS countries amounted to USD 6.134 billion as of August 1, 2010, down 1.3% on the year.

Belarusian imports from CIS countries rose 9.4% to USD 10.634 billion, including imports from Russia at USD 9.47 billion, up 6.1% on the year, and from Kazakhstan at USD 146 million, up 240%.

Imports from non-CIS countries went up 22.6% on the year to USD 6.859 billion.

The deficit of commodity trade with CIS countries came to USD 3.476 million, down 29.2% on the year in the period. The deficit of commodity trade with Russia fell 21.9% year-on-year in January-July 2010 to USD 4.233 million. In trade with Kazakhstan, Belarus showed a USD 127.3 million surplus, up 1.5%.

The deficit of foreign trade with countries outside the CIS reached USD 725.5 million in January-July 2010, compared with a surplus of USD 618.1 million surplus in January-July 2009.

The CIS accounted for 57.8% of Belarus’ trade turnover in January-July 2010, Russia accounted for 47.8%, while non-CIS foreign states are responsible for 42.2%.
