The Belarusian government suggests doubling the 2010 budget deficit forecast to 3% of GDP, or by 2.5 trillion Belarusian rubles (Br), Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky said when reporting to President Alexander Lukashenko on the performance of the national economy in 2010, the press service of the president said.

The key problem is now to find additional budget resources amounting to 6.6 trillion rubles.

“To this end, the government suggests attracting additional budget revenues, changing the procedure of financing of traditional expenditures and raising the budget deficit forecast to 3% of GDP, or by 2.5 trillion rubles,” the statement of the press service reads.

Belarus’ Finance Ministry posted a republican budget deficit of 2 trillion rubles, or 2.4% of GDP in January-July 2010. Republican budget revenues amounted to 16.3 trillion rubles in January-July, or 46% of the adjusted target for the whole year. Republican budget expenditures reached 18.3 trillion rubles, 46.5% of the target for 2010. End (Br3,010 - USD 1)
