OREANDA-NEWS. September 13, 2010. The Belarusian government has decided to establish a special purpose vehicle with authorized fund of 2 billion Belarusian rubles (Br) to design and construct a new sugar refinery, under resolution #1234 of the Council of Ministers.

The government has instructed state concern Belgospischeprom in association with Mogilev and Gomel region administrations and other concerned agencies to develop regulatory acts for the construction of the new sugar refinery.

There are four sugar refineries in Belarus now, based in Gorodeya, Zhabinka, Slootsk and Skidel.

Belarus’ sugar production increased 36.9% on the year in the first six months of 2010 to 322,530 tonnes. In 2010, sugar output is projected at 883,900 tonnes, up 16.4% on the year.
