OREANDA-NEWS. September 14, 2010. Estonian Air’s expansion into Lithuanian market in the beginning of the year has been successful and the airline has decided to widen its presence in Lithuania even more – starting from 31 October 2010, direct flights between Vilnius and Stockholm will be added to the winter flight schedule in addition to the Vilnius-Amsterdam route, reported the press-centre of Estonian Air.

„Our successful operations and further expansion has become a reality thanks to the good cooperation with strong partner airlines. As the new destination from Vilnius, Stockholm has the biggest potential because it is not covered with direct flights today,“ said Andrus Aljas, Estonian Air President and CEO. „We are confident that the cooperation with SAS Scandinavian Airlines on Vilnius-Stockholm route will be as successful as in our home base in Estonia,“ Aljas added.

“The cooperation with Estonian Air on the new Stockholm-Vilnius service provides an important extension to our offer between Scandinavia and the Lithuanian market. This new service adds on to the significant growth of Scandinavian Airlines during 2010, when opening Copenhagen-Vilnius service, and confirms our ambition to be one of the leading carriers in the Lithuania market”, said Robin Kamark, Chief Commercial Officer at Scandinavian Airlines.

Flights between Vilnius and Stockholm will be operated under code share agreement with SAS Scandinavian Airlines six times a week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
