OREANDA-NEWS. September 16, 2010. The Estonian carrier Estonian Air is about to set up a base at the airport of Vilnius.

Estonian Air will resume flights between Tallinn and Amsterdam from Oct. 31 and the current Tallinn-Vilnius-Amsterdam line will be cut down to Vilnius-Amsterdam line.

Together with this Estonian Air will station one of its Boeings in Vilnius and operate it from there independently of Tallinn, Estonian Air President and CEO Andrus Aljas told reporters on Monday.

Aljas added that in terms of its population size Lithuania was three times bigger than Estonia and after the bankruptcy of the local airline there were lots of opportunities for development on that market.

In its flights to Amsterdam from Tallinn and Vilnius Estonian Air will work closely with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.

During the summer the load factor of flights on the Vilnius-Amsterdam route was 95 percent. The route's so big success was somewhat of a surprise, said Aljas.
