OREANDA-NEWS. September 16, 2010. XX Economic Forum in Krynica has traditionally brought together political and business elite of the European countries. The impact of the recession on the economy of European nations and development prospects of the European Union after ratification of the Lisbon Treaty were in focus.

This year around 2,000 delegates from over 60 countries took part in the forum. Businessmen from the EU and their partners from neighbouring countries discussed energy security, regional collaboration, development prospects of the banking industry and institutional reforms, corporate social responsibility and other issues.

SCM was represented by Jock Mendoza-Wilson, Director of International and Investor Relations, who spoke at a panel discussion on the global financial crisis. The participants talked about the crisis impacts on the EU members and candidates as well as the differences in post-crisis development strategies in particular countries.

"It's not my first time speaking at this forum and I can positively say that its importance for Ukraine's integration into the European community can hardly be overestimated. Being the biggest business group in the eastern Europe, SCM contributes to integration of the Ukrainian business into the economic area of united Europe", said Mr Mendoza-Wilson. "But such meetings are important for SCM as well because here we share experience with our European partners, learn the latest management practices and offer our solutions".
