OREANDA-NEWS. September 17, 2010. New Cummins ISF diesel engine lowers fuel consumption by 30-35% making it possible to reduce vehicle cost of ownership by 20%, reported the press-centre of GAZ Group.

GAZ dealerships in seven regions of Russia have started sales of GAZelle-BUSINESS with a new diesel engine produced by Cummins Inc. (Columbus, USA). All service stations have been provided with spare parts and are ready to serve the customers. Later, as production volumes grow and the service and distribution network becomes ready, the sales geography will expand.

The retail price of vehicles with diesel engine is RUR 100 K above that of similar petrol-powered versions. At the same time, GAZelle remains on average 40% cheaper than similar European diesel vehicles assembled in Russia, and at least twice as cheap as similar vehicles produced abroad.

By launching a modification with a modern world-class diesel engine, we have managed to keep the price advantage, as well as to reduce the cost of ownership and to make the vehicle more reliable”.

GAZelle-BUSINESS with a diesel engine has:

Fuel consumption on average 30-35% lower, which makes it possible to reduce the cost of ownership by about 20%;

Higher reliability and service life due to the powertrain lifespan extended up to 500 thousand km and upgraded transmission components;

Improved dynamics and higher torque in all traffic conditions.

Cummins ISF engine is the newest engine model in the diesel engines range produced by the well-know American company. The engine displacement is 2.8 L, power – 120 hp at 3,200 rpm, torque – 297 Nm at 1,600-2,700 rpm, weight – 250 kg. The calculated fuel consumption is 8.5/10.3L per 100 km at 60 and 80 km/h respectively. Fuel consumption in real operation with full load is 12.5 L per 100 km.

GAZelle and Sobol vehicles with a diesel engine are Euro-3 certified. The vehicle type approval for Euro-4 and Euro-5 is being obtained.
