OREANDA-NEWS. September 17, 2010. Belarus plans to reach a budget deficit of 1.5% of GDP by 2015, Finance Minister Andrei Kharkovets told.

According to him, it is planned to gradually reduce the budget deficit, which in 2011 is projected at 6 trillion Belarusian rubles (Br), or 3% of GDP.

“It is unadvisable to keep such a deficit too long, this is why we are going to cut it,” Kharkovets said, adding that neighboring countries increased their budget deficit levels in order to avoid shocks.
