OREANDA-NEWS. September 17, 2010. The agreement signing ceremony on the delivery of MC-21 short/mid range aircraft has taken place as a part of an International Investment Forum "Sochi 2010". The Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin attended the ceremony.

The agreement was signed by the General Director of the RUSSIAN TECHONOLOGIES STATE CORPORATION Sergey Chemezov and the President of IRKUT Corporation Oleg Demchenko.

As on the document, IRKUT Corporation will supply RUSSIAN TECHNOLOGIES SC with 50 MC-21 aircraft within 2016-2022.

The agreement provides the signing of the MC-21 aircraft delivery contract till the end of December, 2010.

The General Director of RUSSIAN TECHNOLOGIES SC Sergey Chemezov has declared: "The MC-21 aircraft delivery contract will promote the development of high technologies in Russia and will allow providing air carriers with modern passenger liners of domestic manufacture".

The President of the IRKUT Corporation Oleg Demchenko said: "The RUSSIAN TECHONOLOGIES STATE CORPORATION became the largest domestic ordering customer of our plane. Today the МС-21 order book has reached 190 aircraft. It indicates the correctness of technical and marketing strategy of the Corporation".

The President of JSC "UAC" Alexey Fedorov, who attended the signing, said that "МС-21 – the priority project for civil aircraft building of Russia. We connect with it the innovative development of our industry".

MC - 21 Program is carried out according to the confirmed schedule. The development of the aircraft concept and the basic design were completed, contracts with the basic system suppliers were signed in the first half of 2010. At the present moment IRKUT Corporation carries out the development of the design documentation and production preparation. At this stage the program book of orders allows considering maximum customers interests, planning production and providing stable financing of the project.

MC-21 Program is intended for the creation of short and medium range aircraft family with high operational capability and destined for Russian and international markets of civil aircraft. 

IRKUT Corporation is the head executor of the program. The program focusing on creation of family of short/mid range passenger aircraft is included in the Federal target program of development of civil aviation.

The high technology application to the MC-21 aircraft gives advantages against all existing aircraft at the market. The ecologically friendly aircraft will benefit with 12-15% fuel consumption reduction as well as high level of passengers comfort.

The first flight of MC-21 is scheduled for 2014. Russian and international certification are planned to be finished by 2016.
