OREANDA-NEWS. September 20, 2010. Vladimir Yakunin, President of Russian Railways, checked on the progress of infrastructure construction for the 2014 Olympics during a working visit to Sochi, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.

He inspected work on the second continuous line between Sochi - Adler, the Adler railway station, the stretch between Adler - Sochi Airport and the track superstructure on the Combined Rail and Road project between Adler - the Alpika mountain resort - Service.

"We recognise that Russian Railways has a great responsibility to ensure that the Olympic infrastructure is ready in time,” said Vladimir Yakunin.

Russian Railways is implementing 6 infrastructure projects of great importance for the 2014 XXII Olympic Winter Games and XI Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi:

Combined rail and road route Adler - Alpika mountain resort - Service;

The railway line from Tuapse to Adler and a second railway line between Sochi - Adler – Vesyoloe;

The railway line from Adler to Sochi Airport;

Rail freight yards on the Imeretinksy lowland;

Passenger terminals at Dagomys, Sochi, Matsesta and Khosta railway stations;

Sleeping quarters with 49 rooms at the Mys Vidnyi Sanatoria in Khostinsky in Sochi.
