OREANDA-NEWS. September 21, 2010. At the Government’s House in Astana Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Karim Massimov met Prime Minister Samir Rifai of Jordan.

“We are glad to maintain the relations. We hope this meeting will be one in a raft of meetings resulting in various contracts”, Samir Rifai said during the talks.

According to the Kazakhstan’s Agency for Statistics, bilateral trade turnover in 2009 reached USD 30.6 million, with exports standing at USD 30.3 million and imports making up USD 0.3 million. For January – July 2010 the figure totaled USD 12.9 million (with exports making up USD 12.5 million).

One of the projects to boost the trade turnover might be regular supplies of Kazakh grain to Jordan.

In 2003 Jordan imported 480000 tons of grain; however, no grain transactions were made in 2004-2009.
