OREANDA-NEWS. September 21, 2010. The Office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service in the Altai region (OFAS Russia) initiated a case against three store owners in Tabyny District Centre on suspicion of concerted actions, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

According to the information available to the experts of Altai OFAS Russia, three stores in this district centre have been selling buckwheat at the same price. All stores have different suppliers and have to pay different purchasing prices. Altai OFAS Russia suspects that the three stores can be exercising concerted actions for fixing and maintaining prices in violation of Article 11 of the Federal Law “On Protection of Competition”.

“It is inacceptable to fix the same prices, especially in a village where people do not have a big choice of stores. Therefore, we will have a close look at this case and any similar cases”, says the Head of Altai Regional OFAS Russia, Stepan Pospelov.

Altai OFAS requested the store owners (two individual entrepreneurs and a limited liability company) to provide additional information. The case will be considered on 6th October 2010.
